"I think Jon’s a jewel in the crown. He’s really great with the crowd and his music. He’s been a great support to me. Put him in front of 30,000 people and he really goes for it. He naturally warms the crowds up. We always discuss what we’ll both be playing and he goes out there and does it. At the moment he’s better than most top DJs I could mention.” Carl Cox’s summary of Jon Rundell speaks volumes, and as about all you need to know about this talented techno jock. But a little extra info won’t hurt.

Having emerged as one of the hottest talents in the hard house scene around 2002/2003 (with an emphasis on killer grooves), he undertook a role at major vinyl distributor Amato (R.I.P.), before impressing Coxy with his increasingly techified productions and landing himself the job of effectively running his label Intec Records. From this point on he had it pretty much sorted – strengthening his role at the influential label with a continuing stream of acclaimed, chunky techno grooves, and becoming Cox’s warm-up DJs at many of his biggest shows around the world. He’s one DJ who doesn’t need hyperbole – and don’t be surprised if you haven’t heard of him, he’s been absolutely killing it the world over without the need for contrived PR campaigns and headline stories.

Enjoy his mix of deep groovy er…grooves, and chunky techno bits. Ja!

Sum up this podcast in 10 words...

A Natural Progression That Portrays How I Play In Clubs.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

It’s a toss up between Jimmy Onassis Dancing Chords and the Satanta & Bailey remix of Josh Wink’s Don’t Laugh. Both for very different reasons.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

Its flows from start to finish and it includes around 5 different types of “genres”. It also portrays the more energetic way I like to mix.

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?

Hard to say as they have all been really good in their own way.  A 12,000 people party on a beach in Marseille was a good experience where I played along side Martin Solveig – of course, you’d find in difficult to not enjoy playing this sort of party with loads of scantily dressed ladies on a really warm night in the South of France! But I also had a really good time at Lost Souls in Shoreditch, London recently as it gave me an opportunity to really go for it. This was a day time party at the really unusual Public Life club. Pure techno!

What have you got coming up?

Gig wise, I’m really looking forward to playing local to where I live at the South West Four festival on Clapham Common – 23rd August! The night before this I play the massive Electrosonic Festival in Burgos, Spain, along side Carl Cox and event organiser/ good friend Christian Varela.  More recently amongst other gigs I am playing another special party in Marseilles at the Beach Football World Cup Final Party where I’ll be representing England!! (Come on England) I’m also off to Ibiza again this summer where I’m playing at Tiesto’s night in Privilege, in the Elektric Playground room, and the night after its off to Space for a very special party which I’m lucky enough to be involved in – watch this ‘space’ for more info ;-) In October I’m off to the ADE to play Escape in Amsterdam with Paul Van Dyk, then I’m hopefully off for a few dates over in the USA – all my tour dates will be on my myspace as they happen – www.myspace.com/jonrundell

New releases to look out for include my second call up to the Vandit Digital with tracks Taking Time and Turntable Knights. I also have a forthcoming release on Sander van Doorn’s label -  Doorn Records. I’ve a remix due out I’ve done for Jonno O’ Brien called My Groove and another remix I’ve done for Adam Sheridan on his Mainstage label called After Dark.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Open your ears to as much different music as possible as there’s so much good stuff out there and have a great summer!  Oh yeah, and come and check my sets out if you can
