One of biggest new names in trance music in recent years, Sied van Riel has absolutely smashed it in 2009. With his first compilation, In Riel Time, loads of hot productions and gigs at many of the world’s biggest and best trance events, it’s the year that saw him really break through into the premier league.

In the second of our retrospective podcasts, Sied digs deep and mixes up his most inspirational tracks from the past decade along with some indisputable classics for an atmospheric, slow-burning mix. Class.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Tiësto’s remix of Silence. It’s the track that got me 100% into trance…and Marco V’s C:/del.mp3.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
I hope the build up and track selection. It’s not an average thing with like all the major anthems in it. I could have made this mix 3 hours easily - loved doing this.

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
Planet of Angels in Lodz Poland. Love the Polish crowds!

What have you got coming up?
A-6 day India Tour, Russia, Norway, Ukraine, A festival in Goa India, Sensation NYE in Melbourne and directly after that an Australia tour for 1 and a half weeks and then straight back to Europe for events here..

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
