Once a young – and massively prodigious – contender to the hard house throne, BK now sits pretty as one of the scene’s effective “elder statesmen”. OK, he’s not particularly old, but given what he’s accomplished since he began doing work experience in a London music studio at the age of 16, he can definitely lay claim to being one of the godfathers of the hard dance scene as we know it.
Then-hard-house-label-du-jour Nukleuz Records took him on as an in-house engineer when he was still younger than most university graduates, and during his stay there he created dozens of huge tracks in alarmingly consistent succession. His track Revolution is one of the biggest tracks the hard dance scene has ever spewed forth, and found its way onto the Radio 1 daytime playlist back in 2002 – and unprecedented and unparalleled feat for the genre – and he has continuously pushed and developed his production style to keep ahead of the rest. He has sold 100s of 1000s of records, and had his name on over 150 releases across the last 13 years. You may have also heard his various tasty electro/tech tracks under his Black Russian guise – alongside the likes of Tom Real and (Cheshire) Catz. That’s not to mention the TV and film work he’s done, and the global DJing diary he’s fulfilled for the last decade. Workshy he ain’t.
Somehow amongst all this, he’s also found time to create an album of co-productions with some of the scene’s most promising new talents, after having produced two full artist albums in the past. BK presents The Nu Wave is out now…

Sum up this podcast in 10 words...
A look into all styles of my current harder music .
What’s your personal favourite track on it?I really like the fifth track in, it’s called
The Virus and it’s by Neil Thomas.
What’s the special ingredient in this mix? Diversity - it’s not just banging hard house but a mixture of tunes I am currently into.
What’s the best gig you’ve played recently? It was for Godskitchen on the Monday Bar boat - a cruise for 2500 people from Stockholm at the weekend. I liked it because it was so much fun on the boat, all the DJs got into party mode with everyone else and it went off!
What have you got coming up? I have a new album out now!
BK Presents The Nu Wave – it’s collaborations with new DJs/producers and even label bosses, and a couple of established DJs who are pushing the music and scene forward. It’s all about the new! Check out

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers? Get your dancing shoes and come down to one of the tour nights! Check out
