One of the newer names to emerge from Detroit’s musical gene pool, Patrice Scott has actually been doing his thing since 1984, when he first purchased a set of discs as a young teenager. Influenced by local legends like Jeff Mills and The Electrifying Mojo, he first caught the bug a year prior at the age of 13, after attending a local neighbourhood party hosted by Sharevari crew. He soon went about getting himself gigs in the surrounding area, and creating his own crude remixes using cassette recorders, turntables and a drum machine.
Years down the line and he began to produce seriously, finally setting up his own label Sistrum Recordings in 2006, which helped to push his deep house stylings out to the likes of Efdemin and Lawrence and saw his name. His emotive productions have seen him labelled as one of the most talented artists in the deeper end of house music, and his effective late blooming only serves to make his music more compelling. This mix sees him explore deep and dusty house grooves from across the years.
Patrice Scott plays Stop Making Sense Festival from 3rd - 5th September 2010 @The Garden, Petrçane, Croatia - www.sms-2010.com
