Those who are deep in the know will need no introduction to the sounds of half-Swedish, half-British producer Leif. For those that don’t yet know this underground and highly commendable artist – Leif is a prolific young producer and DJ, releasing cuts on Moon Harbour, Fear of Flying, Boe Records and Trimsound (his own imprint), his deep, ethereal and personal sounds have been making deep impact across the underground house scene, most recently with his latest cut for 2020Visions sister imprint Fina Records, ‘So Long’ featuring Donna Rae.
Crossing beyond the Chicago house blueprint, and incorporating classic strains of US garage and his own British, two-step mark, Leif made an impression on us with his deep, soulful blend of dance music’s – and far from the often cold, gritty scenery that’s common with his home area of the North East of England, Leif sports music that’s perfectly suited for your forthcoming Summer shindigs, serving as a pre-eminent glimpse of a bubbly, funky and uplifting season ahead of us. Jacking, stepping and meaty with rounded beats and tons of personality, DT proudly introduce you to the world of Leif as he serves up a platter jampakced full of interesting directions and sweet, sweet sounds. You'll hear more from this bright talent over the coming months for sure.
Sum up this podcast in 10 words...
Deep shuffly tech / house / garage shenanigans mixed live on Technics
What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Difficult one... Really loving Move D’s “Your Personal Healer” at the moment, also the Unit 46 track at the end is an all-time favourite of mine – amazing tune!
What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
If you play it backwards there’s a subliminal vocal somewhere that tells you to do random stuff. Other than that I’m just trying to fuse a load of vinyl together from between 1993-2011 into some kind of interesting smorgasbord.
What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
Freerotation is always the highlight of my year, also really enjoyed playing a couple of the Lo*Kee parties in London last year – awesome!
What have you got coming up?
My new EP “So Long” is out in March on 2020vision’s new sister label (FINA records) – including a Move D remix. I’m also stoked to be working on releases with Liebe*Detail and Hypercolour for 2011.
And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
