Fusing the euphoric, heady sounds of trance with pump, grit and drive of electro, Netherlands-based Rafaël Frost’s stunning productions are the pinnacle of the whole electro-trance sound to date. Huge, dirty bass leads, crisp, sharp FX and fills, taut, hard-hitting drums, and epic, atmospheric trance riffs and pads are all thrown into the mix to create an invigorating, emotive, and exciting sound. Where so much of trance can be very flat in terms of energy levels – Frost’s productions could never be accused of that.
He took part in a Ferry Corsten-led competition on Dutch national radio in 2004 to find the country’s most exciting new producer, won the whole shebang, and soon met up with Joeri Lodders, the A&R guy at Ferry Corsten’s Flashover Recordings, to show him his wares. Mute Your Mind was his first release on the label, and has been followed by stormers like his breathtaking remix of Street Punk’s White Russian, the huge crossover hit Run To You, with remixes for High Contrast and Baroque also receiving huge acclaim.

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
My gig at The Gallery at Ministry Of Sound has been my best one in the UK ‘til now. My favourite was at Sublime in Sydney (Australia).
What have you got coming up?
A new track from myself is in the finishing stages. Other than that I did a remix for Fender Woods which will be released soon and is already receiving massive supported by Sander van Doorn, Ferry Corsten, Bobina, JOOP, Marcus Schossow, Richard Durand and many more.
