Literally bubbling over with promise Ryan Thomson, aka Screendeath, is one to get to know if you don’t already. The musical alter-ego of this 20 years young university student from Northern Ireland presents a staggeringly accomplished and delightfully diverse sound as both DJ and budding producer. As the former he presents highly variable mixes, where the consistent themes include tripped out and tribal timbres, sleazy grooves, catchy hooks and a rudimentary appreciation for chaotic bass lines. Thomson has delivered something pretty unique and from well outside the box for his DT mix; an hour of blistering leads, glitch-ridden percussion and unrelenting wonky beats - certainly not for the faint of heart.
You can catch him in our tent – in association with
Chibuku – at the Parklife Festival in Manchester on the 9th June. In the meantime, get stuck into this superb mix.
