At Data Transmission we pride ourselves on our collectively discerning ears. As connoisseurs of the finest in modern dance music and clubbing culture, you'd think we might know how to throw a good party ourselves. Well actually we do. Following sell out boat party at Hideout, Croatia with Aeroplane and Doorly, to huge shows at XOYO with KiNK, Tale of Us and M A N I K, and regular, themed ‘Presents..’ parties at The Hoxton Pony with Monarchy, Fenech Soler, Mighty Mouse, Bag Raiders and The Silver Bullet featuring Beardyman and Drums of Death besides more, DT are back at the Big Chill with a cutting edge and bass heavy line-up of epic proportions.
For our latest effort we've picked an ideal venue and some great DJs and artists to fill it wall to wall with delectable electronic beats from a variety of genres, representing the new and prospective sounds of 2012. To the Big Chill Bar we’ll be bringing northern imports xxxy and D/R/U/G/S, legitimate electronica wunderkinds Disclosure, Error Operator and of course no DT line up could be complete without our very own Round-Up selector specialist Ben Gomori.
Manchester based XXXY, went through an interesting set of motions get to his current sound; Guitar band to bass heavy garage producer by way of drum and bass, techno and early dubstep. By 2010 distinct house music inflections have crept into the young producers’ repertoire, influencing his sets and productions alike. The productions of fellow Mancunian Callum Wright, or the extravagantly punctuated D/R/U/G/S, were initially discovered by online bloggers and subsequently attracted the attentions of bigger publications, launching the young artist from bedroom producer to internationally touring live electronic act almost overnight. Disclosure are the phenomenal multi-instrumentalist brothers behind hits like ‘Blue You’, ‘Linstigator’ and ‘Street Light Chronicle’. 2011 was a massive year for Guy and Howard Lawrence …, 17 and 19 respectively, as we saw the pair break-through with their innovative take on the 2 step and post-garage sounds, displaying compositional and production expertise years ahead of their time. Young blood Error Operator brings us his eclectic and warn blend of post-electronica and garage vibes – a true new voice to watch out for in 2012.
With Mr Ben Gomori ‘rounding-up’ the line up, Data Transmission’s Class of 2012 party typically boasts some of the very best in today’s dance and electronic music. Charging the reasonable entry price of absolutely nothing, the 28th of January at the Big Chill Bar represents a delectable, tour de force of fresh, forward thinking music - trust DT to help kick off your 2012 endeavours the right way.
