Ninja Tune artist Funki Porcini is returning to their spotlight after 8 years away.
He’s a bit of a nomad – leaving England at the age of 19 after being savaged by Scottish football hooligans when living in a squat in London’s King’s Cross, arriving in Los Angeles with $300 in his pocket, hitch-hiking to San Francisco, buying a saxophone, moving into a warehouse, getting involved with the music scene, moving to New York’s East Village, coming back to England, hating it, trying out life in Berlin and finally settling in Italy for 10 years. He eventually moved back to London to start working with Ninja Tune.
Technically he actually returned in December with an album called PLOD which he released through his own site http://funkiporcini.bandcamp.com, but this is his return to a label.
His new album On will be released on the label o May 3rd, full of woozy downtempo sounds and organic textures that will find fans in many an electronica lover. Welcome back, Mr. P…
