Californian promoters Insomniac Inc. are suing the City of Los Angeles for over $1 million after officials pulled the plug on their upcoming Tiësto concert amidst crowd safety fears.
The row goes back to Insomniac’s Electric Daisy Carnival in late June, when hundreds of clubbers were hospitalised in an eerie premonition of July’s Love Parade tragedy. An underage attendant also died of a suspected drugs overdose. As a result, the authorities have put the kibosh on the upcoming event, reports Associated Press, and the promoters are now suing over a claimed breach of contract.
They are trying to obtain a court order to move ahead with the show as planned, and are defending themselves by saying that the concert is at an indoor venue with controlled capacity and age restrictions (which were also supposedly implemented at the Electric Daisy Carnival).
