Fever Ray - Seven

You’re spoilt for choice with the new remix package of Fever Ray’s lovely chime-filled single Seven. They’ve covered lots of bases – with names du jour like Crookers, Seth Troxler and Marcel Dettmann all pitching up.
 
But for us, the best two remixes come from CSS and Martyn. CSS show they’re still to be reckoned with, thanks to their cool Italo-disco / electro slo-mo groover, but it’s Dutch ex-pat Martyn who steals the show. His mix comes on like Burial hitting the dancefloor; those spooky style 2-step beats kicks us off, hollow, reverbed sounds driving us to bump and wind, before a seriously cook, deep b-line groove drops in. It’s a great melodic hook, again quite garagey in tone, and when it’s joined by Karin’s shrieking vocals, makes for a really interesting meeting of sounds. One of our favourite remixes of the year.
