Anyone else tired of reading the words 'hot tip for 2010' (and similar)? Tough. You're about to read them again. Hot tip for 2010 Lenzman lands his first release of the year on Shogun offshoot SGN:LTD. Sharper eared listeners may remember the Netherlands based producer for his rather lovely refix of Total Science's Soul Patrol in April last year, or the melodic Emeralds that dropped on this very label back in February.
More loveliness abounds here on Bittersweet. In collaboration with (wait for it) hot tip for 2010 Riya, Lenzman brings a drifty, rolling slice of soulful dnb that will do very nicely for Sunday evening recovery-type activity. Some jingly jangly piano chords add a touch of the old skool to proceedings, along with a wee sound effect the real ravers among us are sure to recognise.
If the A-side of this Shogun release is the morning after, Rags to Riches, on the flip, is the night before. Keeping things soulful with the male vocal, Lenzman drops a little deeper with a dark, liquidy b-line and synths that just, just border on an industrial vibe. A sharp break makes this one quite the ticket for a little 4am left-foot-right-foot stepping action. You know the one I mean. Get amongst it, liquid monkeys. Your time.
