It seems Danny Byrd is hot on the heels of High Contrast in the king of the Hospital remixing stakes. Here he takes inspiration from Liquid’s 1991 rave anthem. A strong-minded, purposeful beat, sweeping atmospherics and synthetic orchestral flourishes pull this though a fairly lengthy passage, with wailing vox and soaring synths adding further drama as we reach a euphoric breakdown. When the iconic piano chords kick in the energy is taken up a notch or ten and it’s here that Danny really gets into his stride. Trademark uplifting, feel-good-factor, piano chords and fast paced breaks, which, lets face it, are what makes a Hospital party Hospitality.
Flip over for the Jungle re-rub – an altogether more mature number, with rattling jungle riddims before the early '90s rave chimes in again with some rave horns marking the descent into the forays of our junglist forefathers. Vox are chopped up, horns blaze, and the bass rumbles beneath like an echo of a Serial Killaz re-lick. Not sure quite how well it sits with the rave-infused piano chords, but that could just be a case of personal preference, but with this one the A-side party tuneage anthem is the one that sticks out.
