Kicking off with the teasing textured intro of Nu: Tone’s
Get Hyper, which blends beautifully into
Piano Anthem by Sonic, Logistics moves through some of his own work, before the Russians arrive with a blast of vocals overlaid with some twanging SFX and deep b-lines, courtesy of Electrosoul System’s
Sunshine.
After delving into experimental, Slavic sounds, we are brought back to the familiar with Logistics’ gorgeous,
Crash, Bang, Wallop! roller,
Warehouse and the screeching synths of High Contrast’s
Persistence of Memory. Danny Byrd ups the sex factor with his remake of the early-'90s rave anthem,
Sweet Harmony, which really gets the energy going, the synths soaring, the hands in the air and the bassbins wobbling, as Logistics expertly mixes it into Sigma’s smash it,
Paint It Black. It’s a euphoric, high-octane mid-section for the Hospital Mix 8, as Netsky’s
Memory Lane and Cyantific’s vocal-led,
88mph mark it’s energy peak, before Subwave’s deliciously dreamy, clicking
Stars Get Down draws the mix onwards.
Newcomer Blokhe4d makes a fantastic contribution with Full Circle; other notable moments, as we near the end of the mix, include warped, deep, dark Different from MRSA, B Complex’s absolutely stunning, almost operatic, number, Beautiful Lies. Mistabishi’s Greed is another interesting one - toning it down a bit with vocodered, time-stretched vocal sampling and warped dubstep-influenced sounds, it leads towards the final artistic flourish – Subwave’s remix of London Elektricty’s sonorous, gentle, lilting number, Bare Religion.
It’s a great mix from Logistics, he covers a range of styles, looks back to previous Hospital releases as well as forward into 2010, with the nine exclusives that are featured, and gives a warm welcome to what we can only expect to be some big names for 2010.
