Willie Graff & Tucillo - Just Can't Give You Up EP

Cielo mainstays Willie Graff and Tucillo return with another slickly executed – if somewhat unimaginative - disco groover, sampling heavily from Mystic Merlin’s ‘70s smash Just Can’t Give You Up. But to be honest, who cares if its not say anything remotely new? It’s a bloody lovely version of a disco classic, with sassy, sexy beats, a thudding bassline, and just the right amount of atmospherics to give the vocals and guitar licks some depth. Couple of cheeky builds, and bosh, job done. This will put a smile on your face and a spring in your step most probably, and for that we salute it.

Flipside Rise Rhythm is very late-‘90s French house, in a delicious way. More subtle disco samples creating a funky hipshaker of a groove, with a wonderfully soulful little male vocal line, cleverly-warped guitar glides and big reverbs and delays in the breakdown adding the necessary accoutrements. Magnificent again.

The legendary Chez Damier gives two remixes of Just Can’t Give You Up – his Interpretation is a loose, jazz-tinged deep houser with sizeable, warm bass that evokes secretsundaze on a summer’s day, while his A Little More Mix has a tech house undercurrent at first before launching into classic Rhodes organ chords territory.

Lovely music to perk your week or weekend right up.
