Your Body is the latest collaborative effort by Mike Monday and Tim Sheridan. Released on the latter’s Veryverywrongindeed imprint, this 3-tracker does carry an intriguingly weird vibe.
The original mix by Monday features juxtapositions of distinctive sonic components: the rhythmic structure formed by chopped up murmurs and snappy percussions couples with the old school bleeps and triumphant melodies, whilst the breakdowns are interlacements of psychedelic vocal parts and dreamy synth layers. Yes it may seem a bit melodramatic here, yet interestingly they are all arranged in an effective manner. And of course, the dramatic elements are captured on the radio edit as well.
Sheridan then expands the original, turning it into a 9.5-minute piece with his own twists. Housier beats and a meaty, wonky synth line are deployed alongside the chopped-up murmurs of the original, and later on the resonating strings and leads organically render an atmospheric and blissed-out soundscape – it is quite a ride indeed.
A conceptually refreshing single with solid execution here, it is worth checking out for those who are looking for something a bit different or special.
