3 Amigos feat. SuSu Bobien - You Bring Me Joy

Posted by Matt Oliver at 05/04/2010 00:00:00

Reigning over a bulging scrape of looped funkiness, SuSu Bobien drops Gospel goodness with a vengeance at precisely all the right moments, knowing she has the right of way when it comes to steering the party along (and boy can she push her tonsils into ridiculous exultations). Poetry in motion from all concerned – the Amigos Jellybean Benitez, Marlon D and George Mena expertly give the green light to try on chat-up lines without saying them out loud; feel the groove, then make your move. All while Bobien shouts to the heavens and backing singers ram home the chorus into a surge of worship.

Guy Robin, who at 20 years old probably has no right to be listening to and remixing club music of a mature ilk like this, gives it the old Robin S/Niche garage bassline treatment (evidently there’s still in this particular old dog yet), to pre-empt the sexiest of money-maker shaking. Dead simple, dead effective, dead good: three notes played into hearts and souls, and then really going for it by turning the chords the other way around when the vocal drops out. Upholding London prestige, The Layabouts provide qualified back-up to have you dancing until a new day starts with another snake-hipped teaser for happy sophisticates.
