Whis This - Bang That Ass Back EP

Destination Milan for those wanting their fidget button tickled, Whis This twosome Gianluca and Ale, remixers to Fukkk Off and M.I.A., kick off an EP of bassline boomerangs and synth slingshots with Ass Back. Not cashback for the backside-fixated or some kind of strip club refund scheme, but dancefloor decimation calculated at 4x4 multiplied by 200% zipper madness, featuring a drag queen vocal greasing its way up a stripper pole. Cunningly breaking into a rumbling techno departure from the blue-arsed fly bass and helium drops, WT’s opening act is like discovering the bimbo has a bit more to her than just big-gunning cleavage, though you’re in no doubt as to what the main asset is.

Of similar bounce-filled lunacy but bearing an even higher sugar and caffeine intake, Dodgems Part 2 glugs and wobbles like, obviously, a bumper car driver. Only one thinking that they’re an F1 grid starter, bassline folly constantly whizzing round corners until the nausea of WT’s arcade rewiring, spewing out spurts of bleeps and power-ups, becomes too much.

The bombs are brightly coloured to a point: the ace Bangbangbang fills its club-soaking water balloons with electro-filtered squelching, getting the balance between amusement and strength absolutely right for a meaty flip of the frequencies. The Bad Boy is another to puncture the jibber-jabbering;  cued from speed garage bass plunges and sending down quickfire alien beams that warp savagely, Whis This confirm the lack of playground atmosphere with warning shot ragga vocals and a rhythm of stern stiffness. Come for the filth, stay for the fury.
