Agoria’s recent Balance mix was another fine effort in what is arguably the best mix compilation series in the market. To back it up Agoria has handpicked some of the highlights from the mix with EQ sticking them out as bonus EPs.
Up first is The Same with Szarpiesz Minerwa - a classy, tech-house cut from a fledgling Polish production duo whose track beat 1,000 others to prick the ears up of Agoria and feature on the Balance comp. It’s an eerie track with haunting string sounds coming and going above effects and deep subterranean beats. A positive future could well await this pair.
Jozif’s Back 2 My Roots meanwhile is a cosmic slice of instrumental disco with a lovely melodic lick married to a bold orchestral line in what is a very fresh, original sounding track.
The third offering is Less Time from Agoria’s friend Oxia and it’s a dance floor delight with crisp beats, a deep bassline and a sublime piano hook that is the centrepiece of the breakdown. Minimal yet mesmerising.
Last up is Kid A with the stunning Lonely. Agoria is championing this American female signing up her productions to his InFiné label and it’s no surprise on listening to this - it’s a beautiful, mid tempo, record with Kid A boasting a vocal that somehow manages to be both ethereal and edgy. Another name to watch then to round off a diverse EP that open-minded electronic music fans should lap up.
