Rodriguez Jr. vs Marc Romboy - Lac De Nivelles

Systematic boss and rising talent Rodriguez Jr. combine forces for a cute little groover here that’s half Gui Boratto, half Stimming. Soft shakers move you from the start, with far-flung wooden percussion chiming in occasionally beneath the dainty xylophone lines, and before long analog sounding synths begin to draw in some melancholic melody. Groovy, but with a strong melody running through it and lots of attention to detail.

On the flip, Glimpse goes deeper and focuses on the xylophone line. His usual loose beats and rhythm thump and clunk away, with a chunky kick and tight hats bouncing off a murky, walking-down-the-stairs bassline and eerie swathes of Detroit pads panning alternately. A spooky, stripped-back break diverts the attention before the groove drops back in with more purpose, thanks to a soft cymbal ride and another chunky element. Very cool as always.
