Daagard & Morane - Rock da House

Electro jerky, synth stabs, farty jabs, plinking jolts, balloon expulsions, human pinball to a controlled 4x4 tempo…big time label jumpers Danny Daagard & Steve Morane know what the score is, and by the above descriptions, quite clearly so should listeners. The German pair has neither the edge over competition, nor are they left flagging behind by the same swarm of bumpily restless peers. Featuring one of those History of House-style confessionals, possibly mistranslated without quite going full on Borat, that basically amounts to house music being nice if you like that sort of thing, D & M are at either side of an electro-house conveyor belt, placing on the knick-knacks as the basics roll by in front of them. It will find spinners, though its worthiness is also open to a little dullness as well.

Plaza de Funk’s alternative is less jerky on the shaking of the electro magic eight ball, though that doesn’t prohibit the supplementing of the Italian’s own stock of buzzes and synth convulsions. After a filtered disco opening, brought back as both a break up to the factory floor push and pull and to assist making the title refrain more prominent in its commands, PdF’s version is more like the straight-ahead plain sailor taming choppy waters to the original’s brash and interfering upstart loving the sway of the waves. Something to do dancefloor geometry to when they drop, although Rock da House is found wanting when it comes to a spark of personality and originality.
