Jason Phats feat. The Duke - Purple Piano

An absolutely classic piano groove from Jason Phats; definitely up there in the Axwell bracket of heavenly ivory ascension. Need this review continue?

Well Purple Piano features a familiarly sculpted sermon that takes care of the mauve element, and The Duke adding the requisite vocal inspiration doing the whole one nation under a groove technique of crowd control. The pianos are a bit like...hmm, well every Ibizan limelight stealer ever recorded probably – the benchmark of Rhythim is Rhythim’s Strings of Life or the intro to Serious Danger’s A Taste of Rio’s Showbar are references if you want a definite comparison, but they just absolutely reek of holiday memories being created before your very ears. The best ideas are still always the simplest ones – yeah, the unoriginality content is pretty high, but then don’t get on the plane if you’re not feeling it - and if this doesn’t have the people and places that matter eating out of the palm of its hand this summer, the house scene will have officially gone to rack and ruin.

The instrumental’s included, and though it’s a photo finish as to which wins hearts and minds the most, it’s strong enough by itself not to have the vocal accompaniment, whose temporary relegation allows strong backing strings to fortify the magic.
