Slam - We Doing This Again / Variance (Remixes)

Glasweigian techno stalwarts SLAM present two new remixes of classic tracks.

First up is Amsterdam hero Julian Chaptel's remix of We Doing It Again. Subby kicks, a hollow click track break and tight off-beat snares are jockeyed along by shimmering synths and loose fills before increasingly filtered pads give way to the drop. Defiantly pacy mid-set material, this is music that will resuscitate a jaded floor and, like much of the Paragraph output, this has serious drive. There is a playfullness in much of Slam's work; even the darker moments are infused with a lightness of touch, and this remix carries their woozy, funked up techno baton forwards.

On the flip, Gel Abrilsets to work on a relick of Variance. Exploring upbeat territory, and very funky indeed, this is a mighty roller which is at once hypnotizing and pummeling, the jerky percussive fills evoking images of some dusky South American favela party. Great summer tracks that demand to be worked.
