Des McMahon & 3clipse - Someday

Someday is the tenth release from fledgling trance imprint SPX Digital, and it’s probably the most banging release to date, whose quality over quantity approach is paying off. This time turning to stateside to up and coming American duo Des McMahon, who had an excellent recent outing on Discover Dark, alongside the reclusive 3clipse.

There’s no looking past the original mix, which is a nice crunchy percussive fuelled number, with a squelchy little acid riff laced over the top of an energetic, rolling bassline. The mayhem abates at the first break around the two minute mark, with sweeping synths and smooth pads providing plenty of uplift, before the bass punches back in with its delicious barking acidity.

Slinky’s Stewart Donaghy turns in a curiously titled Dark Side remix, which is a lower tempo affair that lacks the clout of the original. He opts for a more filtered approach to the percussion and a chopped up melody that doesn’t suck you in to the same effect.

Tehran-based Proyal turns in his best work to date with a deeper more rhythmic interpretation, with lots of intensity courtesy of the huge arp synths, sweeping melodies and some stunning drops.
