Here we have a nice bluesy lil number: deep, progressive and warm. Blues vocals coated with plenty of tape distortion drip honey-like across a rich, sunny landscape of beats, bass and synths, with an eerie attack synth loop keeping the melancholic jungle vibe at strategic moments. The beats are punchy and simple, with elements of the classic 'here come the drums' break popping up here and there to keep the drumfunk geeks satisfied.
Everything sits together just right. This is a richly produced tune and each element is mastered perfectly to contribute to the overall impression. High Contrast's tunes are always the aural equivalent of honey, and this release from the Hospitality stable will no doubt be an essential part of every jungle DJs box for the coming summer. But you can't help but get the feeling, with an producer of this calibre, that there could have been something more interesting going on here. Risks haven't been taken, and barriers have by no means been broken.
