Corderoy - Watching U

Mondo gets back to its trancier roots with UK talent Corderoy providing a real big, heavyweight track in the shape of Watching U whilst the in vogue Digital Nature get to grips on the B side with the remix duties.
I say back to its trancier roots in the loose sense as label boss Darren Tate has always had a keen and wandering ear and taste for electronic music that takes up the ambgious position of left-of-center so to speak. This is illustrated perfectly with the original mix of this release offering a chugging, heavyweight trance track packed full of quirkyness and energy. On first play it catches the listener slightly unawares, not fitting into the typical mould but it does not take long to know that it is a real gem of a track.

Already enjoying heavyweight support including Dave Pearce on Radio 1 and on his recent Delerium compilation, this release is a genre pushing, breathe of fresh air and goes to prove that trance does not need to stay stuck in 1999 and indeed has plenty of room to evolve and adapt its sound.

Whilst Digital Nature provide a worthy B-side, it is all about the original mix and with it surely sets Corderoy a platform upon which to deliver much more of this kind of material. A real stand out track and beautifully produced - I am a big fan!
