3 tracks of deep down chuggy goodness from Josh Wink’s label here, with Italian hotshot Bacchetti at the helm following acclaimed releases on Tenax, Wagon Repair, Sci+Tec and Viva. Afrikaans keeps things simple and funky with a rolling, chunky bassline, sleigh bells and sharp shakers aplenty keeping the rhythm chugging along. A nice enough tool, but not enough for 10+ minutes? Well those who stick with it are rewarded with digeridoos and some atmospheric jungle kinda noises. Useful if not quite inspiring.
El Matador treads a similar theme, with bubblier bass and some cheeky castanets reflecting the title of the track. It’s nice and percussive, with low-slung bongos and passages of Flamenco guitar loops diverting our attention from the main course. Caribbeanrounds things off with organ stabs punctuating an undulating bassline, acid tweaks, tribal percussion.
Nothing amazing but 3 useful grooves which will work well on a big juicy system.
