VA - Munich Disco Tech Volume 2

This five tracker from Great Stuff sees four artists bang out some solid techno groovesIn all, it's a tidy release and well worth a look.

Daniel Bortz' Suedwind has a chord blended stonking groove, stripped back to the minimal requirements for good techno in a nice and tidy way. The track succeeds where many others have failed walking down this trance/minimal path and its tight all round production make it the strongest record on the EP.

Label boss Rainer Weichhold's Hamsterdam is well written and produced but lacks content and as such is forgettable, a throw away set builder at best.

Ian Pooley's Orca Mallorca Remix of Tonka's Orca is a pretty decent slab of deep techno - it drives hard with a good groove and nice melodic elements, plenty of effects keep it interesting and this is going to appeal to deep house DJs and tech heads alike.

Both the Dub mix and the Original Mix of Superslut by Bulerias are pleasing, with shuffling percussion, good solid kicks and a warm bass line pushing both tracks in the same direction. The only real difference in feeling for the two is when the breakdown hits and a different chord takes the lead to push the track even harder in differant directions. The intros to the tracks are not ideal as both start proceedings with a kick and bass that sound awkward without the shuffle of the percussion.
