Meat Kate & D. Ramirez - Stop The Revolution

A decidedly disappointing collabo from these two big talents – it’s seriously run-of-the-mill electrohouse (or tech-funk if you must) with a memorable, intense vocal that’s wasted on such simpleton music. Boring! Quick, give it to Jamie McHugh to sort out. What’s this? He’s turned it into a gut-churning techno nasty with nauseating bass and sharp cymbals? Utter filth. A little too droning for these ears but this mix definitely has a lot of fans. Bassbin Twins get inventive with an injection of sexy broken beats spicing things up alongside snatches of live percussion and lashings of electro filth – very cool, kind of like Stantons meet Bugz In The Attic. Dubfire’s Arrowhead Dub has a nice throbbing, stripped down bassy groove going on, but doesn’t go anywhere, 30Hz does a good job by laying down some rugged, ripping bass, big, hollow snares, rhythmic bleeping and cool fills, and Kid Blue serves up some cool breakbeats but not enough elsewhere to keep things exciting. Finally, Ramirez’s buddy Bobby Lorenz does a decent job conjuering up a rugged, wiggling electro house groove with a hard house style filtered and gated bass groove which is just a few steps away from being really great.

Generally a disappointing package – stick with Bassbin Twins and Lorenz.
