Time flies, doesn't it? Just four years ago, a little record label named Mobilee introduced itself to the world with Sebo K's Too Hot; a memorable tune with a catchy hook and the unstoppable Mobilee groove that hasn't wavered since. Although the past four years may have gone by in a flash, Mobilee certainly never missed a beat, as Anja Schneider has systematically grown the label into one of the most recognizable brands in house music. It's only fitting then, that Anja get her hands dirty for the label's milestone fiftieth release, right? She paired up with the venerable Lee VanDowski, who finally makes his long-awaited debut on the label, following several releases for Mobilee's sister-imprint, Leena.
With all the hype surrounding a milestone release like this, Deseo sure takes it's time getting it gear. Don't fret, however. It's well worth the short wait. Once the filters are released, we're left with an unstoppable groove; headed up by a relentless synth line and butchered up vocal snippets. It follows a fairly simple and easily predictable format, with additional snippets and funky elements being brought to the forefront throughout the track; building rhythm and tension up until the inevitable release. Nothing groundbreaking is going on here, but it's damn good music, that's for certain.
On the flip side, however, we do have something quite remarkable. La Roulette is a perfect example of the magic that can happen in a studio when two talented producers come together and everything clicks. Jokes are flying, and ideas are flowing fluidly. Dirty, dirty, and dirtier. That's all that can be said of the grinding, menacing groove that drives this track. While Deseo's aim is to keep things warm and uplifting, La Roulette on the other hand, takes you on a chemically-enhanced journey into the most filthy cavernous club imaginable. And you won't be going home any time soon, this party is just getting started.
