Salvatore Fread & Volta - Western Spaghetti / Patatas Madras

Heads down tribal grooves from Freerange this time round, with the rambling Western Spaghetti taking you on a heady trip full of jungle shrieking, big throbbing drums and simple hypnotic bass. Its subtle tribal lilt and atmospheric feel give it a bit of a big room Cocoon feel – along the Timo Maas Subtellite.

B-side Patatas Madras is the one for us though – more melodic, with its sporadically-occurring descending scale of a b-line, shimmering sleigh bells and live metallic percussion, and a really exotic feel. Imagine Johnny D getting his Afrobeat on, if you will. Charles Webster dubs it out, taking it to a very very deep, proggy kind of place.
