Picking up from where last summer’s Stay Out All Night left off, Mac & Fanciulli’s new track for Josh Wink’s Ovum label is another firecracker in a very similar vein. So much so that it actually sounds like a remix of said banger. Skippy, crisp beats jaunt along a simple 3-note b-line, full of techy promise with their big cymbal ride, and the track teases us with flourishes of white noise. The bassline filters out into a big, churning techno lead line while acidy blips squelch away in the background, and there’s plenty more teasing and uppers and downers before the track finally explodes around the 6m30 mark. Big, festival-slewing simplicity.
On the flip, 20% heads down a looping filter disco meets techno direction, taking us back to Daft Punk DJ sets of old.
