Two years after his debut full length LP on Modeselektor’s 50 Weapons, Cosmin TRG will release his follow up studio album, ‘Gordian’ on April 26th. Since making his debut with the German imprint, the now Berlin based Cosmin has extensively toured the globe hottest electronic nightspots with his metallic techno being absorbed on dance floors from Fabric to Berghain and winning favor at some of the coolest festivals such as Sonar all the whilst releasing a series of EPs on Rush Hour and 50 Weapons.
We were reliably informed that the new album marks something of a new direction for talented Romanian and that it’s a much – it’s a much more subtle affair that deals in plenty of alien textures retains it’s kinetically driven percussion but has been inspired by sounds farther afield than the realms of techno as Cosmin explained.
“Gordian is as much a document of my past year as it is the beginning of a conversation. The title references an ancient myth, but describes the very contemporary, impossible task of discerning between real and replicated, authentic and contrived. Coping with facts, objects and bodies, the necessity of ‘making it’, fear of failure, fear of ‘not being happy’ are today’s topics, and Gordian is my attempt at an exploration of those issues.”
