David Holmes emerged as a unique and innovative electronic artist in the mid-‘90s when he released his first LP This Film’s Crap, Let’s Slash The Seats – a downtempo treat inspired by arthouse flicks, dusty old cinemas and vintage film soundtracks. He released the album after producing tracks for labels as diverse as Harthouse, Soma and Warp, and soon found favour with the likes of Pete Tong when he released his sophomore album Let’s Get Killed – his calling card which mixed up soul, trip-hop stylings, quirky field recordings and samples, vintage instruments and a general magpie like sensibility. Its distinct, filmic style led on to him being asked to create and compile the soundtracks for big Hollywood flicks like Out Of Sight and Ocean’s Eleven (and Twelve, and Thirteen) with seriously impressive results – and virtually everything he’s done over the years has been bloody marvelous. Dig those two albums out, and check his new LP Experiments In Violent Light for just a taster of his impressive oeuvre.

We’re very chuffed and excited to have a podcast from such a highly-respected individual as Holmes, and it’s as left-of-centre and curiously addictive as you’d expect from him. Weird electronica experiments mix with samples from God knows where, soulful moments, spoken word headfucks and glimpses of long-forgotten film soundtracks to create a very atmospheric, and very weird podcast. Just don’t listen to it if you’ve been up for a few days….

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
'Sweet Love of Planet' (the second to last track on the mix) by Fuck Buttons.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
Salt and Pepper.

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
My album launch party where I DJ'd with Andy Weatherall at the Lock Tavern in Camden.

What have you got coming up?
I have several UK DJ dates coming up for full dates go to www.myspace.com/davidholmesofficial and I'm working on some exciting new film projects this year.
