The Purple Wow Sound is currently taking dubstep by storm. “What the name of Jesus is that?” I hear the uninitiated cry. Well, it’s kinda like G-funk meets dubstep – big, colourful synths, sharp and ragged bass frequencies, and tight-as-fuck hip-hop inspired beats. Dr. Dre goes to Croydon basically. Alongisde fellow Bristol residents Joker, Guido and Gemmy, Ginz is propagating the sound across the world and has been creating some of the heaviest beasts in the genre of late.

A truly sickening producer, he’s also the man behind electro/breaks hybrid 30hz, half of B-more and booty bass enthusiasts Body Snatchers, and he co-founded the immense Tectonic label alongside Pinch. And although he’s repping Bristol right now, he was originally born in Washington, so he’s also kind of flying the flag for the increasingly impressive clutch of American dubstep producers. His DT Podcast crams 18 tracks into 45 minutes, with a bunch of hot-out-the-studio exclusives and plenty of phatness.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words...
IT’S BIG BOOWWSSSSS MUSIC FROM THE BOWS OF ALLL BOWWWWSSSES.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
The Noah D Joint at the end…. Straight out of Portland, dude has some beats.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
My unshakeable sense of moral authority and the way the sun glints of my RayBans as I pull them down in a meaningful oh so slow way to make eye contact, uttering softly “yo I’m Ginz bitch, where you from?”

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
Open mic night at my local, sang a few Caruso covers, you know how I do.

What have you got coming up?
2 week trip back home to the US, including a high school reunion and meeting my future step-dad (they better not try to pull any reverse gender Cinderella shit, I hate that shit… I ain’t cleaning and I sure as hell am not chatting to mice).

Music-wise done a bunch of stuff with Joker, and working on a folk music project… oh and Baobinga’s moving to Bristol so probably get on with making gold/platinum Body Snatchers slow jams.

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Once, a long long time ago when the shores of time had hardly been caressed by the delicate primordial waves of the infinite, a star was born that one day would hang in a velvet dark sky under which Ginz would tell Joker to KNOW HIMSELF, and make it clear to everyone else that he is a BAWWWS.
