A favourite with D&B fans across the board, Dutch darling, Lenzman really hits the spot here, with rolling b-lines, dreamy atmospherics, crisp beats and smooth, sultry riddims, this is lovely stuff.
Sugar Hill starts off with some nice punchy beats, a chiming synth hook and some warped sampling, leading into a sensual, subtle drop. It’s just so damned catchy, but with calmed down beats and undulating bass driving it along, and a percussive breakdown creating an added dimension to the tune. Absolutely bang on, with a nice progressive edge and chilled out feel to it.
Flip over for more tasteful treats, with Memory Loss’ soothing, dreamy pads and powerful soul-ridden vocal sampling overlaid on top of the main tune. It’s deep and rolling – classic Lenzman in the making – with some nice features in the mix: jinging bells, tip-tapping sounds, a gradual build up, and some well-placed, slightly off-key synthetic piano chords as well, as it softly thins out and ends in a puff of smoke.
