A tasty, rolling house groove here that marries tribal rhythm with techy percussion and incessant old skool house stabs to great effect, along with bubbling, low-down bass. A pretty solid affair as it is but....
Head over to these ace remixes from two of America’s most legendary house music names. Pioneer and originator Ron Carroll serves up a tasty Acid Disco remix – a chugging, bumping slice of tech house that will give Wiggle lovers something to smile about with its plump, peppy, plodding bassline, almost soothing acid line (sounds like someone’s put a muzzle on the 303 for this occasion) forming the groove over metallic cowbells and fizzy, open hats. A no-nonsense dancefloor vocal is chopped up into rhythmic chunks, with a hollow, delayed old skool synth giving another taste of the past. Jack yo’ self!
Meanwhile Kerri Chandler’s instrumental takes a slightly more complex beat structure with irregular, hissy snares (or are they shakers?) and the illusion of double kick drums leading into one of his classic, so simple but so addictive techy stab melodies – all warm and soulful, with just the right amount of delay. The stabs weave in and out of deep, filtered passages into bright, resonant ones, and a shrill, tribal-tinged synth melody tops later fills in the gaps. Lovely, summery stuff.
SDT serve up a funkier version with hooky synths and woodblock percussion, and splashes of Rhodes style synth fun - also potentially useful.
