Hear Me

By: Drop The Lime
Label: Trouble & Bass
Written by: BenGomori
Rating: 8/10

What on earth is going on here eh? The supremely inventive Drop The Lime flips the script once again with this fusion of electro, rock, breaks and dubstep undertones. Very messy in the wrong hands, this concoction works together by virtue of DTL’s production prowess; a soulful male vocal works round wonky garage bass, crashing drum breaks and ringing cowbells, punishing Prodigy style fills and grunts of metal guitars. Tons of ideas, for which this radio edit is far too short to contain. Track down the full version for a very inventive, well-produced slice of zeitgeist-encompassing innovation.

Fidget-meister AC Slater does the logical thing on the remix, ironing out the irregular creases and focusing on the vocal and the bass chiefly for a more streamlined version. Deftly switching between the garage bass and a specially drafted-in electro saw of a b-line, and between 4/4 and stuttering ragga rhythms – cool and more dancefloor friendly.
